That list now includes Nicky Hayden, the AMA and MotoGP
champion who was fatally injured this past May in a bicycle accident while training in Italy. “The Kentucky Kid”
got his start flat-tracking, eventually winning short-track, TT, and half-mile nationals, but roadracing earned him international
acclaim and a worldwide fan base.
The photograph selected for Hayden’s 19 x 26-inch poster was taken in 2002 by
Tom Riles at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. According to Dunlop, the image of Hayden on his Honda
Superbike “perfectly captures the ferocity and commitment of Nicky’s never-give-in riding style.” Proceeds
from the sale of the posters will go to the Nicky Hayden Memorial Fund.
“Most people probably didn’t know Nicky dedicated so much of his time to charity, but knowing
Nicky it shouldn’t surprise anyone,” said Mike Buckley, Dunlop Motorcycle’s VP of sales and marketing. “He
had a big heart, and through this program we can help continue to give back in Nicky’s honor.”
Legends poster is available for $29 plus shipping through the Hayden
Brothers General Store. Posters will begin shipping the first week of October. More information about the Nicky Hayden
Memorial Fund can be found
